Peptide Therapy in Sydney: Doctor-Led Care by Telehealth
Peptides are one of the most talked-about topics in Sydney gyms, group chats and social feeds. What usually gets lost…
Read moreHormones affect almost everything: energy, sleep, mood, libido, weight, recovery and how you feel as you get older. But getting a proper hormone assessment can feel hard. You might be told your blood test is “normal” and sent home, or wait weeks for a specialist.
Online hormone clinics have grown quickly in Australia because they make that first step easier. This guide explains what an online hormone clinic does, how telehealth hormone care works from start to finish, what it can and can’t do, and how to choose a good one.
An online hormone clinic is a medical service that assesses and manages hormone health through telehealth, instead of in a physical clinic. A good one combines:
OPTIV Health is a pharmacist-founded telehealth clinic for hormone health for men and women across Australia. Our consults are by telehealth phone call.
People often come to a hormone clinic with questions like:
These symptoms are common and non-specific. They can be linked to hormones, but also to sleep, stress, thyroid problems, low iron, medicines and many other things. The value of a hormone clinic is a careful, whole-of-health look, not a quick label.
Here’s how it works at OPTIV Health. Other good clinics follow a similar pattern.
A free 15-minute call with our care team. It isn’t a medical consultation. We explain how assessment works, what’s billed and by whom, and whether we’re the right fit for you.
An A$150 doctor’s consult by telehealth phone call with an Australian-registered doctor, Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm Sydney time. Consults are private, so no Medicare rebate applies. Your doctor goes through your symptoms, history, medicines, supplements and goals.
You’ll get a pathology request and attend a collection centre:
Your blood test panel is arranged through OPTIV Health. It’s the same panel for TRT and peptide patients, usually done twice a year, and the price is shown at booking. For testosterone therapy, OPTIV Health requires two blood tests before starting, on separate days. These two tests are your two blood test panels for that year, not extra tests.
Your doctor reviews your tests alongside your symptoms and history. A doctor decides if treatment is suitable. That might be testosterone therapy, peptide therapy, another treatment, more tests, lifestyle changes or a referral.
If something is prescribed, it’s dispensed by a licensed Australian pharmacy, and the pharmacy sets the price.
Between consults, our pharmacists and allied health team are available for questions. Your doctor reviews your care regularly and decides with you whether to continue, adjust or stop.

Yes, when it’s done properly. The Medical Board of Australia expects prescribing to follow a real-time consultation with a registered practitioner, not just an online questionnaire. The same professional standards apply to telehealth doctors as to doctors in a clinic. The difference is where the conversation happens, not how carefully decisions are made.

At OPTIV Health, our doctors assess hormone health questions including:
Every assessment is individual. Not everyone who’s assessed is prescribed anything, and sometimes the most useful outcome of a consult is knowing what isn’t wrong.
That’s a common and perfectly good answer. If your doctor decides treatment isn’t appropriate, they’ll explain why and talk you through other options. That might be lifestyle changes, further tests, treating another condition first, or a referral to your GP or a specialist. A clinic that never says no isn’t doing its job.
| Online hormone clinic | Your regular GP | Endocrinologist (specialist) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Referral needed? | No | No | Usually yes, from a GP |
| Wait time | Usually short | Varies | Often weeks to months |
| Focus | Hormone health, with time for detail | All of your health | Complex or serious hormone conditions |
| Physical examination | Not possible by phone | Yes | Yes |
| Medicare rebate | Private at OPTIV Health (no rebate) | Often available | Often available with a referral |
These options work best together. Keep your regular GP informed, and if your doctor finds something that needs a specialist or an in-person examination, they’ll tell you. For more on formats, read telehealth versus in-person care.
Being honest about limits is part of safe care. Telehealth isn’t right when:
A good online clinic will refer you on when that’s the right thing to do.

Telehealth consults happen wherever you’re comfortable. Your health information is handled under Australian privacy law, and pathology goes directly to your doctor.
It assesses and manages hormone health through telehealth: consults with Australian-registered doctors, blood tests at a local pathology centre, prescribing only when clinically appropriate, dispensing by a licensed Australian pharmacy, and ongoing review.
