Hormone Health Telehealth in Melbourne

Whether you’re in the CBD, out in the eastern or western suburbs, or down on the Mornington Peninsula, OPTIV Health works the same way: you talk to an Australian-registered doctor by phone about low testosterone, peptide therapy or another hormone health concern, and any blood tests are done at a pathology collection centre in Victoria that suits you.

We’re a telehealth service, so there’s no Melbourne clinic to visit and no time off work to sit in a waiting room.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Melbourne and Sydney share a time zone, so that’s 9am to 5pm your time, all year round.

Same time zone, no maths

Victoria and New South Wales both run on Australian Eastern Time and both switch to daylight saving on the same dates. Right now that’s AEDT. From April to early October it’s AEST. Either way, a 10am call time is 10am in Melbourne.

One difference to keep in mind: Victoria has public holidays that New South Wales doesn’t, such as Melbourne Cup Day and the Friday before the AFL Grand Final. Collection centres in Victoria may run reduced hours or close on those days, so check before you go.

Blood tests in Melbourne and regional Victoria

Most hormone assessments involve blood tests. Victorians have two main options with us:

  • Dorevitch Pathology: Victoria’s arm of the Healius pathology group, with collection centres across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
  • Australian Clinical Labs: a national pathology provider with collection centres in Victoria.

Your doctor will give you a request form. Take it to a collection centre run by the lab named on the form.

  • Timing: some hormone tests are best collected in the morning, and some need fasting. Your doctor will tell you how and when to go. If you commute into the city, a centre near home often has early slots that fit before work.
  • Regional Victoria: if you’re in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Gippsland or elsewhere in the state, the process is identical. Your consultation is by phone, and you choose a collection centre near you.
  • Billing: the pathology lab bills you directly. Some tests may attract a Medicare rebate and others may not, so ask the lab about its fees.
  • Results: these go straight to your doctor, who goes through them with you at your next consultation.

How it works from Melbourne

  1. Free care call. A short, no-obligation chat with our team about what you’re after and how the service works.
  2. Doctor consultation by phone. An Australian-registered doctor reviews your symptoms, health history, current medicines and goals. If you’ve had blood tests recently, have the results handy.
  3. Pathology at a Victorian collection centre, if your doctor requests tests.
  4. Results review. Your doctor explains what your results mean for you, not just whether they sit inside a reference range.
  5. A plan, if appropriate. That could be lifestyle changes, further tests, a referral, or treatment if it’s clinically suitable. Any medicine is dispensed by a licensed Australian pharmacy.
  6. Ongoing reviews. Regular follow-ups and repeat tests are part of safe hormone care. Our team of pharmacists and allied health professionals is available along the way, at no extra cost.

What people in Melbourne talk to us about

Our service is for adults of all genders. Hormone health isn’t limited to one group.

What it costs

A doctor consultation is A$150, and there are no follow-up fees. Consultations are private, so no Medicare rebate applies. Ongoing support from our pharmacists and allied health team is included. Pathology is billed by the lab, and any medicine is priced by the pharmacy. Our cost guide has the details.

When telehealth isn’t the right fit

Some situations need a physical examination, imaging or a specialist. If your doctor thinks that applies to you, they’ll say so and help you arrange care locally in Victoria. You’re also welcome to share your plan and results with your own GP.

Which pathology labs can I use in Victoria?

Dorevitch Pathology or Australian Clinical Labs. Use a collection centre run by the lab named on the request form your doctor gives you.

Are your hours in Melbourne time?

Yes. We’re open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Melbourne and Sydney share a time zone, including during daylight saving, so there’s no difference.

Can I use the service if I live in regional Victoria?

Yes. Consultations are by phone, so it works the same anywhere in Victoria. You just choose a collection centre near you for any blood tests.

Do I need a GP referral?

No referral is needed. If you have recent results or relevant history from your GP, you’re welcome to share them.

How much does it cost?

A doctor consultation is A$150, with no follow-up fees and no Medicare rebate. Pathology and any medicine are billed separately by the lab and the pharmacy. See our cost guide.
