Hormone Health Telehealth in Adelaide

Whether you’re in Glenelg, Salisbury, Norwood, Marion or up in the Adelaide Hills, OPTIV Health lets you speak with an Australian-registered doctor by phone about low testosterone, peptide therapy and other hormone health questions. There’s no clinic to visit. Your consultation happens over the phone, and any blood tests are collected at a South Australian pathology centre.

The half-hour difference

Our hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm Sydney time (AEST/AEDT), and we’re closed on weekends. South Australia runs half an hour behind Sydney all year round, because both states change their clocks for daylight saving on the same weekends. In Adelaide time, that means:

  • All year: 8:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

The half hour is easy to forget. When you book, check whether your confirmation shows Sydney or Adelaide time, so you’re not waiting by the phone thirty minutes early (or late).

Blood tests in Adelaide and South Australia

Most hormone assessments involve pathology. In South Australia we use:

  • Abbott Pathology: a South Australian laboratory that is part of the Healius pathology group.
  • Australian Clinical Labs (ACL): a national provider with collection centres around Adelaide, including the CBD and North Adelaide.

Your request form will name one lab. Go to a collection centre run by that lab, as other providers can’t process another lab’s request in the same way.

  • Timing: some hormone levels change across the day and certain tests need fasting, so your doctor will tell you when to go. Some Adelaide centres open from 7am, which suits a collection before work.
  • Charges: your blood test panel is arranged through OPTIV Health, and the panel price is shown at booking. You just attend the collection centre named on your request form.
  • Results: they go to your OPTIV Health doctor, and you talk them through together on a follow-up call.

Regional South Australia

A phone consultation works the same in Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge, Victor Harbor, the Barossa, Port Augusta, Whyalla or Port Lincoln as it does in the city. Pathology is the part to plan. Collection centres in country towns may only open on some weekdays or in the mornings, and on Eyre Peninsula or in the outback the nearest centre can be a long drive away. Check opening hours before you set off, and tell our team early if getting to a centre is hard, so your tests can be planned around it.

South Australian public holidays

SA has a few holidays the eastern states don’t. Adelaide Cup Day falls in March, Labour Day is in October, and Proclamation Day is on 26 December. Collection centres may close or shorten their hours on public holidays, so it’s worth checking before you go.

How it works from Adelaide

  1. Book a free care call. A short chat with our team about what you’re looking for and how the service works. It’s not a medical consultation and there’s no obligation.
  2. Phone consultation. An Australian-registered doctor asks about your symptoms, health history and any medicines or supplements you take. If you’ve had blood tests in the last few months, have the results nearby.
  3. Pathology in SA, if your doctor decides tests are needed.
  4. Results call. Your doctor reads the numbers alongside how you’ve been feeling, not on their own.
  5. A plan that suits you. That might be re-testing later, changes to sleep, diet or exercise, a referral elsewhere, or treatment if your doctor considers it clinically appropriate. Any medicine is dispensed by a licensed Australian pharmacy.
  6. Ongoing care. Hormone care includes check-ins and repeat pathology over time. Between consultations, our pharmacists and allied health professionals are there for questions.

Costs

A doctor’s consult is A$150. Consultations are private, so no Medicare rebate applies. The blood test panel is arranged through OPTIV Health, with the price shown at booking, and any medicine is priced by the pharmacy. See our cost guide for how each part works.

When a phone call isn’t enough

Some concerns need a physical examination, imaging or a specialist. If that’s the case, your doctor will tell you and suggest where to go in South Australia. You’re welcome to keep your regular GP involved too.

In an emergency, call 000.
